Company Profile

Baseline Forest Services, Inc., including it’s wholly owned subsidiaries PRÉCEDA Wildlife Services and PRÉCEDA Education & Training, is a full service natural resource company serving forest landowners and forest industry throughout the South. With offices in Auburn, Alabama and Wetumpka, Alabama, Baseline Forest Services provides a variety of services ranging from training and education seminars to timber harvesting. The company currently operates five divisions, providing the following services:

Harvesting Services Division

Supplies raw material to pulp and paper mills and other wood-using facilities in the east/central Alabama area. Currently, the company is operating whole-tree chipping crews as well as conventional, tree-length crews for both thinning and clearcut operations. Baseline Harvesting Services provides the following services to forest landowners:

  • Plantation thinning
  • Whole-tree chipping
  • Purchase land & timber

Forest Investment Management Division

Recently formed, this division provides tax planning and accounting services to landowners, loggers, and others connected with the forest products industry in Alabama and Georgia. Our staff can provide a variety of services, including:

  • Accounting services
  • Tax & estate planning
  • Land sales & acquisition

Forest Management Services

This division provides land management services to landowners in Alabama and west Georgia. Services include:

  • Timber sales & marketing
  • Site preparation & tree planting
  • Herbicide application
  • Fertilization
  • Road construction & maintenance
  • Boundary line location & maintenance
  • Aerial photography & mapping
  • GPS & GIS

PRECEDA Wildlife Services

PWS provides a variety of services for forest landowners, forest products companies, real estate developers, and city & state government agencies throughout the South. Through its diverse staff of natural resource professionals, this division offers the following services:

  • Integrated wildlife and timber management planning
  • Hunting lease program administration
  • Hunting land location & development
  • Endangered species assessment and monitoring
  • SFI and BMP audits
  • Mitigation analysis & planning
  • Game fence development & management
  • Wetlands delineation, reclamation & restoration
  • Habitat evaluation procedures (HEP)

PRECEDA Education & Training

This division conducts more training & education programs for forestry professionals than any other organization in the United States. Through public workshops as well as custom-designed, in-house training programs, our education specialists seek to bring the latest research, technology, and techniques to natural resource professionals, professional loggers, and forest landowners throughout the South. Services include:

Management Staff

Johnny Carothers,

Registered Forester, has 14 years experience in land management, procurement, and logging operations management for a multinational pulp and paper company as well as a wood supply company. Previous positions include Forest Utilization Manager with Union Camp Corporation, where he was responsible for coordination of the company’s Intensive Pine Management Program across a 400,000-acre land base.

Cathy Coker,

Earned both a BA in Accounting and JD and has over 20 years experience in accounting and financial management working in the woodlands division of a multinational pulp and paper company. Her primary area of expertise is cash management, accounting, and financial reporting.

Mike Harper,

Registered Forester, has 20 years experience in land management, procurement, and logging operations management with a pulp and paper company as well as a wood supply company. Mike’s primary area of expertise is in logging operations management. During his career as General Manager of one wood supply company, he has successfully guided its growth from an average production of 7000 tons per week to almost 17,000 tons per week over a three-year period.

Chris Isaacson,

Certified Wildlife Biologist and Registered Forester, has 20 years experience in land management, procurement, corporate planning, manufacturing facility management, and wildlife consulting and management. His primary area of expertise is in administration and operations planning, including integration of timber and wildlife objectives. In addition, he has extensive experience in training and organizational development.

Jon McDonald,

Registered Forester, has 22 years experience in land management and procurement. His career includes 20 years with a large pulp and paper company, with his most recent position as District Procurement Manager with responsibility for all procurement activities for a 425,000 tons per year sawmill and 600,000 tons of pulpwood production. Jon’s primary area of expertise is the management of procurement operations for multiple facilities.

In addition to our Management Team, we have 5 additional professional foresters and 6 well-trained technicians and other support staff who bring decades of experience to your forest management challenges.
